Cy Woods vs Cy Park game information

PRIDGEON STADIUM- October 11th, the Wildcats of Cypress Woods defeated the Tigers of Cypress Park, with a score of 61-7. This is the first year that the Tigers have had a varsity football team because this is only the 3rd year the school had been opened. So, going into the game the Cats had a huge advantage due to the fact that the Park team consisted of no seniors. Cy Woods took care of business, so let’s take a look at how they did so:

The first quarter started off with senior, Jake Tesch, scoring a touchdown only three minutes into the game; the extra point was no good so the opening score of the game would be 6-0, Wildcats. Sophomore, Christian Scott, would then run 19 yards for a touchdown off of a triple option play, raising the score to 13-0. Eight minutes into the first quarter, senior Carson Danner, would pursue a successful quarterback keeper, bringing the new score to 20-0, Cats lead. Cy Park comes back to make a statement with a long touchdown run, leveling the score to 20-7. Tesch was not a fan of that Tiger touchdown, so he rushed the ball to the end zone, adding a quick 6 points to the Cats point total; Senior, Gustavo Olmedo, came in to kick the extra point, making the score 27-7, closing out the first quarter.

The first half of the second quarter did not involve any scoring. The scoring began when Cy Woods blocked Cy Park’s field goal; the blocked field goal allowed Woods to start an offensive series and resulted in Scott scoring a touchdown, raising the score to 33-7, Cats. Following that touchdown, with only 15 seconds left in the half, second string quarterback, Jackson Jones, pulled a quarterback keeper to wrap up the half with a score of 40-7, Wildcats with the lead.

Coming out of the locker room to begin the second half, the Wildcats looked strong and ready to finish the game. So, they continued to score, adding another touchdown, bringing the score to 47-7. Jackson Jones would also keep to ball to score another touchdown to make the score 54-7, Wildcats. That was it for the third quarter and then it was time to wrap this game up in the fourth.

The fourth quarter only consisted of seven points, but it was a big seven points; sophomore, Pearson Chesnutt, returned Cy Park’s punt for a thrilling 82 yard touchdown to make the final score 61-7, Wildcats win.

The Cats were dominate against the Tigers, putting up a total of 61 points. QB1, Carson Danner, put up 97 yards and scored himself a touchdown. Running Back, Christian Scott and QB2, Jackson Jones both scored themselves two touchdowns. Pearson Chesnutt lead the night in rushing yards with a total of 82 yards. Jake Tesch was the recieving leader with a total of 42 yards. If the Cats continue to play like they played against the Tigers, they should be a good contender for the playoffs.

Catch the Cats in action next Friday, October 19th at 7:00 at Cy Fair FCU Stadium against the Panthers of Cypress Springs.
