“It felt sort of bittersweet knowing that I had done something not many people are able to achieve, but also knowing that I didn’t perform at my best to get there. The first time I made it, I was overjoyed and shocked. This time, it was more of an expectation with my pride on the line. That took some of the fun out of it. Nevertheless, I was relieved that I was still able to qualify for State and compete with the top athletes of 6A Texas — what an honor it is to swim with kids of that caliber. Although I didn’t reach all the goals I had set for myself, I still managed to get this far because of the support of my teammates and coaches. And for that, I couldn’t be more proud.”
