Cy Woods vs Cy Lakes football game information

The Cats are back on track! The Cy Woods football team just came off a 63-55 victory over the Spartans of Cypress Lakes. Going into the game, the Wildcats and  the Spartans both had the exact same record, 3-2 overall and also 2-1 in district. While this game ended with a close score, it’s safe to say that the Cats came to battle and they were ready to take the win. Take a look at how the game played out:

The first quarter started off hot with senior, Darion Morgan running 89 yards to score a touchdown. The Wildcats had a 7-0 lead, only being seven seconds into the game. The Cats would go onto to score another touchdown, thanks to senior, Jake Tesch which brought the score to 14-0. The Spartans ended up scoring a touchdown changing the score to 14-7. Senior, Carson Danner, responded with a rushing touchdown that concluded the first quarter, with a score of 21-7, Wildcats.

Junior, Tre Mejia, started off the second quarter with a thrilling run to the end zone bringing the score up to 28-7. Cy Lakes would then sneak in a quick 19 points, allowing the score to become 28-26. Sophomore, Trayce Holmes did not like the sound of that, so he made sure to run the ball into the end zone for an easy 6 points. Senior, Gustavo Olmedo, came in to kick the extra point, making the score 35-26. The clock is now down to just a couple of seconds before time expires for halftime, and Danner throws a 41 yard strike to sophomore, Cam Sowell, for an incredible touchdown, with no time left  on the clock. With a thrilling end to the half, the halftime score was 46-26, Wildcats.

Coming out of the locker room, Cy Woods had all the momentum to come back out and close the game. Tesch thought so too, so he ran the ball to make a touchdown, adjusting the score to 49-26. Here comes the connection again, Danner finds Sowell deep and throws a laser, which would result in another Sowell touchdown and a Wildcat touchdown, raising the score to 56-26. The Spartans would score a quick touchdown, but Danner responded with one also, bringing the score to 63-33, which would be the end of the third quarter.

Heading into the fourth quarter, the Wildcats thought they had it in the bag. The Spartans thought otherwise and they were not done until the scoreboard read 00:00. Cy Lakes scored 22 unanswered points against the Woods defense. While, the game did come down to the final few minutes, the Wildcats held off the Spartans with a final score of 63-56.

The Cats sure did put up a great performance against a though Cy Lakes football team. Quarterback, Carson Danner finished the night with 183 yards passing, 181 yards rushing and 5  touchdowns. Cam Sowell and Jake Tesch would complete the night with 2 touchdowns each. With that being said, these Wildcats are only half way done and they have to continue to perform in order to make it to the goal, which is playoffs.

Catch the Cats in action next Thursday, October 11th at 6:30 at Pridgeon Stadium against the Tigers of Cypress Park.
