The Korean festival is coming to Houston on October 15th at Discovery Green. The event will be completely free to the public to explore, eat food, and watch traditional Korean performances. The organization that hosts the event is the Korean-American society of Houston. They are dedicated to promoting Korean culture and deepening interactions with the Korean-American community.

There will be vendors serving Korean beef, mochi ice cream, kimchi a Korean dish of seasoning and fermented vegetables, ddokppoki which is spicy Korean rice cakes and more. Any Korean pop music fans can purchase merchandise from vendors like hats, t-shirts, and posters of some of their favorite k-pop artists like Exo, Shinee, and 2ne1.

Some vendors even allow the public to sign up to win special prizes, and there is an annual raffle ticket for the festival as well. This festival also allows the public to support local Korean businesses and artists by visiting their booths, and trying different products like facial products or kitchen ware. Families can take a picture with a traditionally dressed Korean family, and there is a performance schedule for different dancers, singers, and taekwondo masters.

There is also going to be a fashion show along with more modern Korean artists who want to show their talent. In order to eat traditional Korean food, festival goers must pay by using tickets, and those tickets can be purchased at the festival by cash or credit card. The public can sign up to become an annual member of the festival and get even more access to performers, food, and have reserved stage seating.

Another thing that helps at the festival is knowing a little bit of Korean to watch the vendors eyes go wide with surprise when a festival visitor says kamsahamnida to thank the vendor for the food.

Don’t forget to purchase a souvenir that represents Korea to remember the experience whether it’s a keychain, calendar, or a even a sticker.
