Matcha, Labubus, feminine literature, Clairo, it all needs to stop. These performative men have gotten way out of hand. You cannot sit there and tell me that you independently, on your own, not looking for validation, did all this.
Now I have no issue with people liking these things in general, but when combined with a man seeking attention, then I have a problem. Do these people know you’re allowed to have your own personality? I swear you don’t have to like all these for the sake of the meme. If you own any combination of those items it should be required to prove that they are genuine interests and not just for the look.
And please with the tote bags. I saw this guy at Barnes & Noble, and no joke, he fit all these characteristics perfectly, down to the Sambas. I promise you, the tote bag, wired earbuds, baggy jeans and Laufey record are not doing what you think they’re doing.
Now there is the argument that it’s just a harmless internet trend, and while to some degree it’s not physically harming, it is incredibly misleading to be someone that you aren’t. Social performance is normal to fit in, but when it’s taken this far, I think it’s ridiculous and embarrassing.
