The Wildcat Java Cafe is here

Twice a school year the culinary classes opens the doors of the Wildcat Java Cafe. With today being the day before Halloween (Day Two is on Valentine’s Day), they themed everything after the holiday and naturally, business is booming. By the beginning of C lunch, the Java Cafe had almost 1,500  total orders of things from mummy toes to cappuccinos.

First off, this year they have done a much better job of trying to cycle students through the lines. I went to the cafe at 6:55 this morning for two cups of hot chocolate and  the line was out into the main hallway after being open for ten minutes. I thought it was going to take 15 minutes to get my drinks, but they surprised me by getting me through the line and my hot chocolates in less than five minutes. That is what I would call a short order kitchen.

When it comes to being a cafe there’s always the concern about the food and drinks they offer. Personally, I’ve only had the hot chocolate (3 cups to be exact), but I’ve heard also about the other menu options. The hot chocolate has been all around well liked by everyone who bought one, but as I have heard, the coffee could use some improvements with too much ice in the cappuccinos. On the subject of food, it’s all been delicious. I have heard great reviews over the Mummy Toes and Oreo Balls (I forgot what it’s called). Overall, the menu is made up of great quality items.

Also, kudos to the culinary classes. They probably have to be under some stress when they’re running the cafe, but every time  I’ve gone to it, they’ve been nothing except friendly to everyone that passes through. They really made it an inviting atmosphere with an early Christmas type holiday feel.

Overall, the Wildcat Java Cafe was a great success for culinary this year. They have continued to out do themselves every time their doors open up to the students. For all who didn’t go to the cafe today, I would say go the next time they’re open because you are missing out on some food and drinks that are way cheaper than Starbucks.
