A quote learned and never forgotten

Mia L., staff reporter

Why is it we all put on a special facade? For some it’s a joker’s laugh and others a solemn smile, a broken smile and I can see them all.

Why is it I can see the prefer-rated lines and broken smiles?

We are talented in concealing the monsters that lie inside all of us

Why?

Why wait for our masks to break when we can show it now?

I guess it’s only when we feel safe in bounds of our own territory we let it take it hold and when we wish to fight it.

Life says don’t you dare child you’ve already made your own bed.

Will we always be guarded, our territory’s marked in blood and the exterior of those who carry attitude to protect the most damaging parts of themselves yet I can see the vulnerability in their eyes, I can see the vulnerability in their eyes.

Why are we so quick to want to fill the empty parts in ourselves because if we don’t, we don’t feel normal?

And why we try to hide the dark spaces in our memories?

We are not born violent yet why is the deepest part of our conscious is usually filled with hidden hatred and yet we still love all the same?

And aren’t we supposed to heal from love? To let our worlds shift and feel connected despite the feeling of loss and emptiness that can be felt in a crowded room.

In the end I guess we mostly just become empty thoughts in each other’s minds. That’s the sad part about knowing what we love can leave us and we also have the power to abandon it without even realizing it.

Why does life teach us how to say goodbye over everything?

Wait, stop.

There are too many questions and even more answers to go through

Moments like this will only cause us more confusion

I guess the only question I can ask right now is

Why?

Why haven’t you shown who you truly are yet?
