For the first time in 56 seasons in MLB, the Houston Astros have won the World Series against the Dodgers on Wednesday, November 11th. What really brought it home was Astros scoring 13-12 in game five, a record-breaking game. Following the victory in game seven, the city went ballistic. The Astros won with a final score of 5-1 at Dodger Stadium, and a parade was held November 3rd in downtown Houston.

Orange and blue confetti was released as the players rode out with the trophy on the top of a firetruck. Around 2.2 million people attended the massive parade, and there was even a performance by rapper Travis Scott. School was canceled for HISD, and many students from other school districts took days off from school to go see the parade that was held all day.

Following the disaster of Hurricane Harvey, the Astros’ victory was a source of unity and joy for Houston.
